Jake Rubenstein – West Boca HS Grad Wins Conference Newcomer Of The Year!

Jake Rubenstein formerly of West Boca High school won Newcomer of the Year or what amounts to Rookie of the Year for the conference. Jake was an All District player at West Boca before he was recruited to play for Sewanee. Jake is starting as a freshman and made an immediate impact this season on the field anchoring the defense as the won their conference. This a tremendous accomplishment for him and highlights the growth of lacrosse once again down here in south Florida.

A freshman defender from Boca Raton, Fla., Jake Rubenstein was Sewanee’s top cover defenseman on a squad that gave up 7.32 goals per game and only 5.03 per game in conference play. As just a freshman, Rubenstein drew the opponents’ top offensive threat each time out and regularly shut them down. Rubenstein scooped up 31 balls for the Tigers in 2014, sixth-most on the regular season champion squad.
