via press release – photo via JU web site   COLUMBUS, Ohio.  – A first quarter defensive shutout and five goals in the final quarter showed a resilient effort but Jacksonville University (0-4) fell to #20 Ohio State (4-0), 16-8, Saturday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Ramaah Harcum and Will Hendrick each scored twice in the game. First Quarter A defensive stalwart was broke up on Blake Gatison‘s first goal of the season with 4:28 remaining in the period. Ben Gleichenhaus was brilliant with three saves and the Dolphins shot nine times to close the period with a 1-0 lead. Second Quarter Just 18 seconds into the quarter, JU took advantage of a man-up opportunity when leading-scorer Hendrick popped the back of the net on an assist from Javon Jackson. The Buckeyes would find their rhythm on offense, reeling off seven unanswered goals to enter halftime with a 7-2 lead. Third Quarter Jacksonville scored the first and its lone goal of the frame at the 12:06 mark. Brett Reilly found Shawn Ewert before the Buckeyes six-straight to end the quarter. Fourth Quarter The fourth quarter was Jacksonville’s most successful on the offensive end. After a quick Buckeye goal, Ewert was the helper this time when he assisted Hendrick at 12:40. The hosts answered but Jacksonville scored consecutive goals on unassisted shots by Harcum and Brady Charles that were 30 seconds apart. Ohio State scored with 4:51 to go before the Dolphins had the last two ringers. With four minutes left, Fernando Milanes set up Zach Buller‘s first goal of the spring, and with only eight seconds remaining, Zach Crotty assisted Harcum for JU’s final score. JU went a perfect 5-5 in its fourth quarter shots. Quote “I told the team after the game how incredibly proud I was of their fight. While losing still cannot be accepted, today we were beat by a team that was just a little better. With that said, we went toe to toe with a big time program and never flinched. The film supported my feeling during the game. We won the first and fourth quarter, but I must give credit to Ohio State’s faceoff unit and extra man unit for making us pay in critical moments. This was certainly our best outing as a team this spring, and I look forward to going back on Monday with this group of young men who proved they won’t quit on the challenges ahead.” – Head Coach John Galloway Scoops Jacksonville picked up 18 ground balls and took 24 shots.  Dolphins went 14-15 in clear attempts and Hunter Forbes won nine faceoffs. Gleichenhaus had nine saves in 49:45 of action and Adam Baker played the remainder of the contest with one save. Ohio State improved to 20-0 in the venue since 2008, and the loss was JU’s second to a ranked-opponent this season. Jacksonville continuous its four-game road swing with a Mar. 4 contest at Hartford. Opening whistle is set for a noon start.
