by Mike Loveday at StudentSports.com Newcomers: Overall, there are three new teams this week. Fordham Prep (Bronx, N.Y.), Rocky Point (Rocky Point, N.Y.) and Downingtown East (Downingtown, Pa.). Fordham Prep enters the rankings for the first time this season as the No. 29 team after defeating former No. 12 Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) as part of the Jesuit Classic this weekend. The Rams went 3-0 during the tournament and have games against Chaminade and St. Anthony’s this season. High Riser: Two teams move five spots this week: Gilman (Baltimore, Md.) and DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.). The Greyhounds made the move on the strength of a 9-7 win over former No. 9 Haverford School. The Stags have started 5-0 and posted a win over Bullis to help propel them into the Top 25 for the first time this season. Surprise Team: Of the three upsets this week that caused teams to fall out of the rankings, Rocky Point may have been the biggest surprise. The Eagles finished 6-10 last season, but are 2-0 now. They jumped out to a 6-3 halftime lead and held on in the second half to defeat Smithtown East 8-7. Jordan Fertig had two goals and an assist and Justin Reh had two goals in the win. On the Cusp: St. Mary’s (Annapolis, Md.) narrowly fell out of the rankings this week and were the first victim of the upsets this week as room had to be made for new teams. The former No. 47 team is likely the first team to get back into the rankings when teams lose this week as they are only eight points shy of the No. 50 spot. Also look for Lake Highland Prep (Orlando, Fla.) to get back into the rankings in the coming weeks. – See more at: http://www.studentsports.com/lacrosse/2014/03/25/boys-fab-50-march-25/#sthash.Dmntqt1X.dpuf
