Keiser: Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Point 29-10 in Inaugural Game

  • Today was the inaugural game for the Seahawks men’s lacrosse team, who defeated Point easily, 29-10.
  • Craig Marentette scored the first ever goal in Keiser history, just 40 seconds into the contest.
  • Jacob Bomberry and Marentette both had a game high seven goals to pace the Keiser attack.
  • Lucas Muzzey notched the first man-up goal for the Seahawks in the fourth quarter of play.
  • Chad Strauss led the way in the faceoff circle, going 8-19.
  • The Seahawks fired 51 shots with 43 going on frame.
  • Keiser forced 25 turnovers on the afternoon led by Jordan Rivard with five caused turnovers.
  • The Seahawks were 19-23 on clear attempts and held a 43-37 edge on ground balls.
  • Jake Padden picked up the win in goal playing the first half making seven saves and then was relieved by Nick Dwyer who had six saves of his own.
TURNING POINT The turning point occurred in the first quarter when the Seahawks scored the game’s first seven goals to take a commanding 7-0 advantage. HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Marentette scored three of the first seven goals to help Keiser jump out to a 7-0 advantage. Point ended the shutout with 6:03 left in the first quarter on a Joshua Garcia goal.
  • Justin Flint racked up two goals and Bomberry had a goal to close out the quarter with the Seahawks in front 10-1.
  • The Skyhawks opened the second with two goals before Marentette and Nolan Duncan matched them to keep the margin at 12-3.
  • The Seahawks outscored Point 4-2 during the remainder of the half, behind a pair of goals by Flint to lead 16-5 at the break.
  • Duncan opened the new half with the first two goals, stretching the advantage to 18-5. Point notched their lone goal of the quarter at the 10:50 mark, making it 18-6.
  • Bomberry then found the back of the net three times and Marentette once, upping the lead to 22-6, heading into the final quarter of play.
  • The final quarter saw Keiser continue the trend of dominating the game and going on to win 29-10, outscoring Point 7-4. Bomberry and Eddie Grieco led the way with two goals apiece and three other Seahawks had one goal each.
