Major League Lacrosse announced today the Players of the Week for Week 12 and for the second time this season Florida Launch attackman Kieran McArdle was named Cascade Rookie of the Week for his incredible performance in the Launch’s 23-17 win over Boston.

“It’s a great honor to win this award especially with all the outstanding rookies in the MLL this year,” said McArdle. “Offensively we played a complete game, sharing the ball all four quarters, and it showed in the end. We were looking to stay hot and continue in the playoff hunt which is what we did and I was just able to add to our score to get the win.”

McArdle, who had 25 goals on the season going into Saturday’s game, scored five goals and five assists for a total of 10 points against Boston and sits first in the MLL with points earned in a single game this season. On top of his career high game, McArdle’s five-goal performance helped him tie the record for total goals scored in a season by a rookie with 30.

“Kieran has had two huge weeks in a row against solid teams and is playing at an MVP level right now, not just rookie of the week,” said Launch Head Coach Stan Ross. “He is starting to figure everything out and we’re looking for a lot of big things from him going down this last two-game stretch.”

McArdle has played in 10 games for the Launch so far this season and has tallied at least two points in each of those games, as well as had eight multi-goal games. McArdle currently sits in the MLL’s top ten for total points with 43 and is tied for second overall in the MLL for goals. McArdle is currently the only rookie in the MLL’s top ten for points and goals.

The Launch finishes up its 2014 inaugural season on the road against the Boston Cannons on Saturday, August 2, and Ohio Machine on Saturday, August 9. The Launch is currently tied for fifth in MLL and is still in the playoff hunt.
