Lady Falcons soar over Panthers, 17-2

The Palmer Trinity School Lady Falcons defeated the Miami-Palmetto Panthers 17-2 on the Palmer campus in Palmetto Bay, FL on Friday afternoon.  The score was 12-0 at the half.  Palmer added on 5 more in the second half, with Palmetto’s Brittany Schiffer getting two on the board late in the game.  Seven of the 17 Palmer goals were assisted.

Bug Franklin was dominant on the draw, winning 13 of 18 and getting 4 draw controls herself.  Franklin also had 5 goals, 2 assists, 3 ground balls and 1 FTO.  Other scorers for Palmer included: Ellie Newman – 3 goals, 2 assists; Mary Ann Casas – 3 goals, 1 assist, 1 FTO; Carolina Cassariego – 2 goals, 1 assist; Katie Brockway – 2 goals; Emily Eckbloom – 1 goal, 1 assist; Ana Cassariego – 1 goal, 1 FTO.  Goalie Nathalia Penton had 10 saves.

Palmetto Goalie Selina Pirkau had 14 saves and 1 FTO in a notable performance.

Next week, the Lady Falcons test their mettle against two of their rivals from last year’s FHSAA district – they are on the road to St. Thomas Acquinas in Ft. Lauderdale on Thursday, and then host Pine Crest at home in Palmetto Bay on Saturday morning.  Miami-Palmetto faces long time district rival Coral Shores at home in Pinecrest, FL on Wednesday.
