Lake Brantley 24- Timber Creek 10

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
It looked like it was going to be a game through the first eleven minutes of the first quarter. Lake Brantley jumped out to a 4-0 lead but Timber Creek fought back to close the gap to just one with 1:08 left in the first.  However, the Patriots managed four goals in the last minute of the quarter as the Wolves had no answer at the face off X and could not slow down the Lake Brantley transition game. The first quarter ended with the Patriots up 8-4. The second quarter was competitive as the Wolves found the back of the net six times and Lake Brantley added seven more to take a 15-10 lead into the half. That would do it for the Timber Creek offense however as Lake Brantley scored 9 unanswered goals in the second half to finish the game 24-10. Tim Gehlbach led Lake Brantley with seven goals and an assist, middie Justin Layden scored three goals and three assists while Jared Bernhardt added five goals.  Austin Sabreese scored 2 goals, 2 assists and attackman Nick Powell scored three goals to start the second half.  Other Lake Brantley scorers included Pat Clark (1,2) Matt Layden (1,1) Austin Sapp (1,1) Caleb Ross (1g). Timber Creek was led in scoring by Scott Turner with 2 goals and 3 assists.  Caleb Portanova scored three as did junior middie Bruce Preeschl.  Stevie Torres had 2 assists.  Justin Dionne and Nate Dunn each scored a goal and Justin Higgins added an assist for the Wolves. Kurt Brothers recorded 16 saves in the net for Timber Creek and Grant Bergeron had twelve for the Patriots. Timber Creek drops to 5-7 with four straight losses and looks to rebound on Wednesday against Lake Nona (6-3).  Lake Brantley moves to a perfect 12-0 and travels to Lyman (5-5) on Wednesday.
