In a game that was closer than some expected, Lake Brantley (6-0) beat Winter Park (4-3) Winter Park. The Wildcats, coming off a close win over District rival, Oviedo, held Lake Brantley scoreless in the first quarter, due to some tight defense on both sides and some stellar goaltending from Reid DenBeste (24 saves). The Patriots broke it open in the second quarter scoring on some man-up goals and lead at half 5-1. Winter Park rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring 4 unanswered goals by Winter Park’s “cheddar squad”. However, Lake Brantley’s disciplined stick handling was able to hold off Winter Park’s late rally to win 7-5. Leading scorers for Lake Brantley were Tim Gehlbach (3 goals, 1 assist) and Jared Bernhardt (2 goals, o assist). Leading scorers for Winter Park were Matt Krecicki (2 goals, 1 assist) and Parker Snure ( 2 goals, 1 assist).
