Mar. 28th – After an up and down first half of the season, Lake Highland (10-4; 4-0 District 11) continues to gain momentum in their push to the playoffs, recording their fifth win in a row this afternoon by rolling past the visiting Tampa Jesuit Tigers by a final score of 18-5.  The Highlanders jumped out to a 8-0 lead by halftime using superb ball movement and team offense which resulted in eight different Highlanders finding the back of the net.  The Tigers hinted at a comeback in the third quarter, pulling to within four goals at 9-5 with 3:20 left in the period.  But the Highlanders experience and depth showed once again as LHP reeled off the final eight goals of the game in a seven minute span at the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth to send the game into a running clock over the final 7:30 of the contest.  The Highlanders showed great patience on offense and looked for the extra pass; 13 of the 18 Lake Highland goals were assisted.  The Highlander defense was tenacious (especially Seniors Casey Irish and Danny Sinton) and Junior Goalie Adam Sawicki was outstanding in the cage.  LHP survived 10 of 11 man-down situations in the game.  Junior Max Parker dominated the face-off X, winning 15 of 21 draws.  Senior Attack Billy Roll set the pace for the Highlanders offense, recording 5 goals and 6 assists.  Seniors Clay Phillips (5G, 1A) and Devon Lewis (2G, 3A) also had big days for the home squad.  Attackman Ryan Brady had 2 goals for Tampa Jesuit.  Lake Highland next travels to Vero Beach on Tuesday, April 2nd to test itself once again against a nationally ranked opponent from the Northeast, facing Baltimore’s Calvert Hall.
