Lake Highland began the season with a lopsided 14-3 win over Oviedo at home.
They traveled to Jacksonville this past weekend for a pair of game with North Florida’s two premier teams.Â
On Friday night the Highlanders thumped Ponte Vedra 10-3. Lake Highland took a 6-3 lead into half time. In the second half the Highlander defense, led by goalie Warren Berenis (Washington & Lee), held the Sharks scoreless.
Will Rotatori (Princeton) scored four goals and added an assist for Lake Highland while Mike Power led the way for Ponte Vedra with 2 goals. Berenis recorded 8 saves in the net for the Highlanders.
On Saturday the Highlanders took on the Bulldogs from Bolles. Bolles held onto a 5-4 lead at the half but Lake Highland powered back in the second half to build a 3 goal 9-6 lead with two minutes left. A late surge cut the lead to one, but LH was able to hold on for the victory.
The Lake Highland scoring was led by Will Rotatori who scored 3 goals and an assist, Austin Tamayo with 1 goal, 2 assists, and Clay Phillips with 2 goals and 1 assist. Berenis had 11 saves in the game.
For Bolles Chris Lewis had 2goals and 2 aassists, Teddy Powell 1goal and 3assists, Michael Haueisen 1goal, 1assist. Willie Bates added a 1goal. Alex Ruiz 2goals, 1aassist.  Zach Ashourian and Javi Garcia each added a goal. Ted Demont recorded 11 saves in the losing effort.
