Launch Fall To Boston 13-9 As Late Rally Comes Up Short

Boston, Ma. -Playing its second game of the three-game road trip, the Florida Launch lost to the Boston Cannons 13-9 at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, May 30. With the loss the Launch falls to 1-6 while Boston goes .500 with a 4-3 record
Kieren McArdle paced the Launch offense with four goals to add to his MLL league-leading total, while Lyle Thompson had two points for the second-straight game. Bobby Lawrence had two points, both coming from a two-point goal while Casey Ikeda scored his first professional goal. Connor Buczek recorded his first assist with Casey Powell also getting one.
After allowing the opening goal of the game McArdle scored his first of _ goals to knot the score at 1-1, but a pair of goals from the Cannons ended the first quarter with a 3-1 lead in favor of the home team.
McArdle muscled a two-goal rally in the opening three minutes of the second quarter to tie the score and record the hat trick. The Launch held the Cannon offense at bay for the first eight minutes of the frame but surrendered three goals before the intermission to trail 6-3.
After five minutes of scoreless play Boston scored the first goal of the second half, followed by a two-point shot to go up 9-3. With 50 seconds left in the stanza rookie Casey Ikeda scored his for the lone score of the quarter.
Steven Brooks continued the streak started at the end of the previous frame with a goal 35 seconds into the final quarter. The Cannons responded with a goal a minute later and another one four minutes later to make the score 11-4. With time running our McArdle sparked a final rally with a goal. Bobby Lawrence brought new life to the game with the first two-point goal for the Launch this season and a Lyle Thompson goal in the same minute made it a two-point game at 11-9. Boston ended the rally with a goal in the final minute and put the nail in the coffin with a final score with 12 seconds left.
The Launch concludes the road swing on Friday, June 5 when they take on the undefeated New York Lizards at 7:30 pm.
