LHP’s Adam Sawicki Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week!

  http://www.lehighsports.com/news/2015/3/30/MLAX_0330151125.aspx   Excerpt: BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following two strong efforts in a pair of wins, Lehigh men’s lacrosse freshman goalie Adam Sawicki has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday. Sawicki finished the week with 17 saves, allowing just 11 goals as the Mountain Hawks earned dominant wins at Monmouth (16-5) and Holy Cross (19-7). The award marks Lehigh’s third weekly honor of the season, along with senior Dan Taylor and junior Casey Eidenshink, who received Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. Sawicki is Lehigh’s first Patriot League Rookie of the Week since Casey McAdam last season. Sawicki has impressed since his first-career start against Denver two weeks ago. The Winter Park, Fla. native made 11 then eight saves against Denver and Army. He began last week by making eight saves, allowing just five goals against Monmouth Tuesday. It included four saves in the first quarter (without allowing a goal). He helped set the tone as the Mountain Hawks opened a 9-0 lead before Monmouth’s first goal with three minutes remaining in the second quarter. Sawicki went on to make nine saves (seven in the first half) at Holy Cross Saturday, allowing just six goals. For the season, Sawicki has allowed just 28 goals over his four starts which include just 21 even-strength goals.
