Delray Beach, FL (July 6, 2015)  —  Only one Florida team will be competing in the US Lacrosse Under 15 (U15) National Championship to be held July 23-26 in Richmond, VA – Florida Select 2018, based in Delray Beach, FL. Florida Select 2018 is an invitation-only girls’ travel lacrosse team based in Delray Beach, FL  comprised of girls in graduation years 2018-2020. Under the direction of coaches Rob Wurzburger, John McClain, and Rich Mullen, the team is currently undefeated this season.  After winning the High School “A” division of the Sunshine State Games in Parkland, FL,  May 16 and 17, the girls then traveled to Bel Air, MD for the Summer Classic Showcase Tournament on June 6 and 7.  Here they competed in the northeast, the recognized hotbed of lacrosse, and remained undefeated against top teams from Maryland and New Jersey. At the IWLCA Champions Cup in Virginia on June 19, 20 and 21, the team continued their winning streak, going 3-0-1 in their first major college recruiting tournament against teams from New Jersey, New York, Illinois and Colorado. “The 23 girls on the Florida Select team pour their heart and soul into every practice and every game,” said coach Rob Wurzburger. “Their focus and finesse is evident during these major tournaments. Their success is a direct reflection of their dedication on and off the field,” he added. This Elite High School travel team has evolved over the last four years to become a girls lacrosse powerhouse in the state of Florida.  The majority of the team has been playing together since early elementary school, starting from two local recreational teams: Delray Beach Riptide and Boca Jets Lacrosse.  Quickly the coaching staff realized the great demand for further competition, and the girls travel team was formed. These girls have proved to be competitive from the start and have established themselves as the premier travel lacrosse team from the South Florida area. Gearing up for the US Lacrosse U15 National Championship the girls are ready to make a big impact both in the tournament and on the college recruiting circuit.
