BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University’s head lacrosse coach Brian Kingsbury is excited to announce the third recruiting class in program history, with seven newcomers inked for 2016. Cody Bartusiak, Nicholas Howard, Christian Jenkins, Peter Masters, Greg Morissette, Travis Quillin and Conrad Rhein all have signed with the Blue & White this fall. The Fighting Knights posted a 1-11 record in their first season in program history and return 13 letterwinners from the inaugural squad. Lynn’s third recruiting class in program history is strong and promising with players coming from all parts of the country. Kingsbury and the Fighting Knights will begin their 2015 journey on February 21, when they travel to Palm Beach Atlantic for the season opener. Face-off is set for 7 pm. Bartusiak is a long-stick midfielder and defender from Wheat Ridge, Colo. As a junior, he helped Wheat Ridge High School to a 15-5 overall record and undefeated 7-0 league slate. He scored two goals during the 2013-14 season and grabbed 31 groundballs. “Cody [Bartusiak] is a super-fast and athletic defenseman,” said Kingsbury. “He was named First Team All-League and First Team All-State Defenseman as a junior. Cody was teammates with current Fighting Knight Caleb Cerf in high school.” Howard is a midfielder joining the Fighting Knights after a successful high school career at which saw him earn all-league honors while at The Canterbury School in Connecticut. “Nick [Howard] is a very smooth offensive midfielder that has a great first step, vision and outside shot,” said Kingsbury. Jenkins, the second defensemen to sign for 2016, hails from Grand Rapids, Mich. He represented the state of Michigan at the 2014 Brine National Lacrosse Classic this past summer. He helped the Pioneers of East Grand Rapids High School to a 10-3 record as a junior and earned All-Conference and All-Region honors. “Christian [Jenkins] is a really good positional defenseman out of Michigan,” said Kingsbury. “He’s a great kid with a ton of potential and growth left in him; he was an All-Conference and All-Region defenseman this past year.” Masters, a product of Upstate New York, plays football, ice hockey and lacrosse at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute. As a junior, he helped the Marauders to an 11-5 record and 6-2 league slate. The six-foot-three attack scored 21 goals as a junior with a pair of assists. During his sophomore campaign, he appeared in 19 games and scored one goal but had 31 groundballs on the season. “Peter [Masters] is an awesome athlete and lacrosse player,” said Kingsbury. “He is a big, strong, left-handed offensive player that has the ability to make big plays. As a junior, he was named to the all-league team for the very competitive Monsignor Martin Athletic Conference.” Morissette is coming to Lynn from The Hill Academy in Vaughn, Ontario, Canada. He is the third player to sign with Lynn from the Hill Academy, alongside current Fighting Knights Austin Jerhoff and Ian Magnan. “Greg [Morissette] will be the third Hill Academy alumnus on our squad,” said Kingsbury. “Greg is an all-around athlete that can play every position on the field. This year, he will be playing defense and long-stick midfield. He is a relentless type of player that will challenge every ground ball and hustle all over the field.” Quillin, a soon-to-be Sussex Tech High School graduate, is a dual-sport athlete for the Ravens where he is an All-Henlopen Conference selection for both lacrosse and football. Quinllin will leave quite the legacy behind him at STHS as he was the Raven’s first All-State Boys Lacrosse player in school history his junior year. “Travis [Quillin] is coming to us from Sussex Tech High School in Delaware where he is a two-sport athlete and the first All-State Boys Lacrosse selection in program history,” said Kingsbury. “He is really good at getting the ball off the ground and in transition.” Rhein, a midfielder from Eastern York (Pa.) chose to sign with the Fighting Knights over Bucknell, Limestone and Tampa. He plays club lacrosse for Low and Away and has twice earned All-Division First Team Midfield and First Team All-YAIAA County Midfield honors.
