Behind a tremendous defensive effort, the Maclay Marauders knocked off Ponte Vedra in an instant classic, 9-8. Play started off quickly with attack men Tucker Schwarz scoring off an excellent fees from gle by Stephen Chase. Ponte Vedra responded with 3:34 in the first quarter with a goal by Logan Tauscher off an expiring penalty. With time running out in the first quarter, Tucker Schwarz initiated a dodge, finding Carter Torgerson in the crease to increase the lead to 2-1 for Maclay. Maclay possessed for the majority of the second quarter, cashing in with a transition goal from Luke Langford, and a tremendous dodge and finish by Stephen Chase. The Marauders held off a Ponte Vedra manup, taking a 4-1 lead into the half. Ponte Vedra began the third quarter man up, scoring just as the penalty expired with a great cut and finish by Dalton Lemaster and assist by Cody Legeza. Ponte Vedra responded 4 minutes later with a goal by Garrett Boyle. But, Maclay faceoff specialist Tripp Transou began to find his stride. Behind his faceoff play, Maclay reeled off 3 goals in a 2 minute span, with Tucker Schwarz scoring on a skip pass, Stephen Chase on a nifty finish, and junior Jeff Auger with a great cut down the middle of the field and finish on the crease. Just as time began to wind down, Maclay responded again, with Luke Langford scoring in transition once gain off a great feed from sophomore Javier Masferrer, taking a 8-4 lead into the fourth. With 6:29 to go, ponte vedra made one last attempt to come back, scoring 3 unanswered goals in the final minutes. With seconds to go, maclay goalie Connor Lamba registered his 14th save, clearing the ball out to the other end to kill the clock. Maclay was lead by senior Tucker Schwarz with 3 goals 2 assists. Tripp Transou finished with 2 assists, but went 8 for 16 at the faceoff X. Junior defensmen Andres Masferrer contributed 6 ground balls, including several in key moments for the marauders.
