Friday February 27th was another cold night of lacrosse, having North Florida fans longing for warmer weather to watch the match up between Mandarin and Leon. Mandarin was coming off another win against Sandalwood earlier in the week and Leon County made the drive from the panhandle to try and stop the Mustangs and add a much needed win to their record.
The first and second quarters of the game saw a slow start for Mandarin, only putting up 4 points on the board due to a very strong defensive front by Leon.
By the 2nd half of the game, junior attack, Robert Carney, lit the field up, scoring 3 straight goals in the 3rd quarter and 2 in the 4th quarter bringing his total for the game to 6 goals. Mandarin proved themselves again as a formidable opponent by winning the game 11-1.
Mandarin faces off against Matanzas on Tuesday March 3rd at 7pm and Leon plays Lincoln on March 3rd as well. Good luck to both teams as the season continues on.
