Florida Lacrosse News is profiling some of our state’s top uncommitted talent.  Today we will feature Hunter Loper, a big, athletic goalie from Timber Creek High School.  Hunter utilizes his size (He’s 6’4″!) and positioning to take up most the goal.  The rising senior is also excellent at clearing and transitioning the ball up field. Limestone Prospect Camp September 13th Rollins Prospect Day October 10th What was your first lacrosse experience? And how long have you been playing? A bunch of my friends played lacrosse back in 7th grade and they didn’t have a goalie so they bugged me for weeks about it and eventually I showed up to practice and fell in love with the game from then on. I have been playing for 5 years. What is your Favorite Lacrosse Memory? Scoring for the first time ever during the Orlando Open tournament this past fall How Would you describe your style of play? Very vocal and as proactive as can be. I try as best as I can to get the defense working well enough to where if a shot is given up it would give me a chance to make the save and transition the ball. What do you think is the strongest part of your game? Communication and saving the ball are two of my strong suits. My size really helps me out because I cover a lot more of the goal. What are you working to improve? My long passes.  What is important to you in selecting a college? Aside from a lacrosse program that I see myself fitting into, an important aspect in selecting a school would be how well I see myself achieving academically and getting myself as prepared for the real world as I can. What do you think you will study in college? I could see myself either majoring in Business or following in my father’s footsteps and get a degree in Criminal Justice and work for the Department of Homeland Security. Which college team or players do you most enjoy watching? I’m a die hard ‘Cuse fan so I love watching them play. But a college player I really have enjoyed watching over the years is Kieran Burke. He was a freshman at UNC when I was a freshman is high school so I’ve always liked to track how far both of us have come in terms of lacrosse. What is your lacrosse goal for 2016? Winning the district championship and continuing from there. How would you describe your high school team? Great group all together. I love each and every one of my teammates and I know that we have a real special bond between one another. How would you like your teammates to describe you? I want my team to see me as a leader on and off the field.  What accomplishments are you most proud of? I’m most proud of how much I’ve developed as a lacrosse player. Not only skill wise but as a leader as well. Do you have any pre-game rituals? Listening to music and just getting ready for what’s to come. I have an Under Armour leg band that I like to wear. Would you rather ride the bench for a great team OR start for a mediocre team? I would rather get as much playing time as possible. Doesn’t matter if it’s a mediocre team. As long as I’m in goal doing my thing, I’m happy to be able to play. What is the last thing you binge watched on Netflix? How I Met Your Mother Twitter or Instagram? Twitter
