“We really could not be here, would not be here without the support of Moe’s Southwest Grill,” said Jacksonville University Athletic Director Brad Edwards. “I also want NBC Sports for their tremendous support of this event. Last year we had well over 100,000 viewers, and they have so much faith and confidence in this event that they’ve now moved it to a primetime slot on an Olympic Sunday.” The weekend goes much beyond just the doubleheader on Sunday night however. A youth lacrosse tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday, and local high schools take the field on Monday. “This is the only event like this in the country this year,” Head Coach Guy Van Arsdale said. “The only place where this is happening is right here in Jacksonville so we’re extremely honored and excited to host this and play an opponent like Notre Dame.” The FHSAA season will officially kick off bright and early Monday morning as Timber Creek and St. Augustine take the field at 8:00.  The next game on tap is Bartram Trail vs. Starr’s Mill (GA).    Then we have Creekside vs. Flemming Island followed by Benjamin vs. Hagerty.  Maclay vs. Vero Beach is next which should be a fantastic match up.  The Bolles School will then take on Gainesville’s Oak Hall followed by Final Four favorite Ponte Vedra and Boca High School.  Pedro Menendez vs. Nease and Providence vs. Mandarin will finish up  over 13 solid hours of great FHSAA Lacrosse action. Tickets for the Moe’s Southwest Grill Lacrosse Classic are available now on Ticketmaster.com or at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena Box Office. Tickets can be purchased in person at the arena or by calling (904) 630-3900. Content from JUDolphins.com was used for this report.
