Oxbridge Moves To 7-1 With 8-6 Victory Over South Fork Thursday

On Wednesday night Oxbridge Academy moved to 7-1 on the season with a tight 8-6 victory over South Fork High School, out-scoring them 3-1 in the fourth to break open a tie game.  Oxbridge is in its second year as a varsity program and Coach Stan Ross is having an immediate impact in leading the program.  Oxbridge’s only loss this season is a 13-9 loss to Pope John Paul, a game they took into the fourth quarter tied at 9.  Coach Ross’ program will really get a feel for how far they’ve come as they face a Top 10 foe on 3/21 when they travel across state to face Barron Collier, fresh off a Top 10 win over St. Thomas Friday night. South Fork was back in action on Friday night and defeated John Carroll Catholic 18-8 to move to 3-4 on the season.  Of South Fork’s losses three of the four are by 2 goals or less to Oxbridge, Vero Beach and St. Edward’s, while also losing to Martin County, while they have a quality win over King’s Academy on the season.  South Fork coach Scott Fletcher leads his team into action Tuesday, traveling to Pope John Paul. In the game Oxbridge was led by Liam Lisec and Tyler Jerd with 2G each.  Zach Ranta chipped in with 1G/1A.  Robert Bayless, Bobby Kilian and Grant Wrightson also scored goals while Riley Smith had 2A and Andrew Tibbles 1A provided the playmaking. South Fork’s Max Moran led all scorers with 3G/1A.  Chris Freehauf, Alex Ernst and Wyatt Ripper added a goal each and Trevor Boice added an assist. Both Oxbridge goalie Randell (67%) and South Fork goalie Dodds (60%) finished with 12 saves, with strong games.
