SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University head men’s lacrosse coach Brad Jorgensen has announced the addition of Peter Sessa to his coaching staff, it was announced Tuesday. His duties will include all defensive coordinator responsibilities, while also working with the face-off unit, in addition to extensive recruiting and academic development tasks. Taking over first assistant duties, Sessa joins the Lions’ staff from Springfield College after the departure of former assistant Matt Musci to Division I Lafayette. “The addition of Peter to our program is exciting,” said Jorgensen. He is a driven professional, proven recruiter, and a perfect fit for Saint Leo Lacrosse and the university community.” A product of Springfield College, both as a player and a coach, Sessa has studied, played and taught the sport of lacrosse in both America and England since graduating in 2010. As a player, Sessa had a standout career as a longstick midfielder. An All-Pilgrim League selection twice, a second-team All-New England honoree, as well as a three-time all-academic team honoree, Sessa anchored a defense that ranked seventh nationally in goals against average as junior and 14th as a senior. After Springfield, Sessa spent eight months in England playing for the Reading Wildcats, who won the Flags Championship. After completing his playing career in 2011, Sessa coached at three English universities, including Southampton, Royal Halloway, and Reading in association with the English Lacrosse Association. Most recently, Sessa took over the graduate assistant position at his alma mater where he also served as Springfield’s recruiting coordinator as well as working with the defense, face-offs, and goalkeepers. “I am honored to earn the opportunity to spread my love and passion of lacrosse to Saint Leo University,” said Sessa.  It will be a privilege to share an office with Coach Jorgensen, a respected member of the Springfield lacrosse family. I am looking forward to drawing top high school recruits to the new state of the art lacrosse facility, and I know that I can provide the spark necessary to accomplish our team goals.” Sessa is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Sport Business.
