By Scott McClelland – Photo by Jose Marnotes Plant defeated Newsome 15 – 9 Wednesday night in a clash of two Hillsborough County heavyweights at Plant High School’s Dad’s Stadium.  After Plant’s close double overtime victory Monday night versus a fired up and well coached Steinbrenner team, Plant came into Wednesday’s matchup trying to prove that they belonged among the state’s best teams.  Plant’s Class of 2016 showed the home crowd what they were made of and were led by seniors Henry Brannan (Grove City) with 6 goals and 1 assist: Bennett Taylor (USMA – West Point) 7 GB’s, 5 takeaways, and 1 goal; Danny Carlson with 2 goals and 1 assist; Jackson Misner (USMMA) with 1 goal and 2 assists, and Enrique Marnotes (Univ of Tampa) winning 88% of his face-offs and 1 goal.  Junior attackman Matt Geary chipped in with 2 goals and sophomore goalie Jack Schifino had another strong game with 10 saves.   Next up for Plant is a Friday night road game versus Wharton High School.
