Editor’s note – Our apologies for not getting this article up in a timely manner. On a beautiful night for lacrosse at Berkeley Preparatory School’s  Stanford Newman Stadium, H B Plant High School won the District 15 Championship over a strong and well prepared Buccaneer team. Plant was led by an offense that had over 7 players either score a goal or an assist.  Junior attackman Matt Geary led the way with 2 goals and 2 assists, senior middie Enrique Marnotes (Univ of Tampa) with 2 goals and 1 assist, and junior middie Eric Cotty with 2 goals and 6 ground balls.  Plant was led on defense by senior Bennett Taylor (West Point-ARMY) with 6 ground balls and 5 takeaways, and freshman Drew Mayts with 2 ground balls and 3 takeaways. Next up for Plant is a rematch versus Steinbrenner in the first round play-in game at Plant’s Dad’s Stadium at 7:00 PM on Friday, April 15th.  Plant’s last meeting with Steinbrenner ended with a double overtime victory, so this game should be a fun one to watch.
