We’ll be back with more details later so look for the Updated version
What we can tell you now is that this is a tremendous accomplishment by the PV team as this was an intersectional win over a team with at least SEVEN D1 recruits, led by Coach Jamie Munro, the former Denver University head coach. Their kids are committed to Notre Dame, UNC, Cornell, Delaware (2), Hobart and Air Force.
A terrific result for PV and this state as we jockey for acceptance in the greater lacrosse world!
Update:
Clay Welch scored four goals, including the game winner with about 4 minutes left as PV overcame a 3-goal deficit in the fourth quarter at Lake Highland Prep. Reid Smith with 3 goals and Dylan Hess scored the other PV goals. Goalie Wyatt Schupler made a few key late saves on EMO and a late fast break and then PV was able to run off the rest of the game clock to secure the victory.
The game was played there as a mid-point with St. Petersburg, where 3D lacrosse was holding spring training for a number of high school teams. 3D is a methodology of lacrosse instruction that builds from the individual first and then up to the team as a structured approach.
We spoke this morning to PV head coach Tom West about the victory and he provided the details above. He also praised the Mountain Vista team for their transition play and the skill level of their top players. He also singled out long pole Andrew Bray for his play on Colin Munro, a UNC commit, as pivotal to the game. He noted faceoff specialist Andrew O’Dare for winning the faceoff battle as a key component for the win.
