Above – PV’s RJ Garcia is back at full strength and will need to be accounted for tonight Editor’s note-An earlier version of this story had the wrong name for the Maclay goalie.  We apologize to Austin Cook and his family for the error.

Maclay pulled off a regular season upset last season but lost the 2013 play off game and the 2014 regular season game to Ponte Vedra.  Both teams have seen substantial success this season as Maclay has compiled a 19-3 record and PV is 20-2. Miles Silva, Eric Applegate, Garrett Boyle, RJ Garcia and Cody Legeza will apply plenty of pressure on the Maclay defense while a red hot Luke Langford, Stephen Chase, Garrett Schwarz, and Andrew Killinger will look to keep pace.  Teddy Transou for Maclay and Evan Weiner for PV can both grab plenty of take aways and get the transition moving up the field in a hurry. Collin Peaks will be between the pipes for PV and he had some huge game changing saves against Lake Mary.  Austin Cook is in the net for Maclay.  Cook had five big saves in the first quarter against Episcopal to keep a slow starting Maclay team in the game last Friday. One thing is for certain tonight, Maclay cannot come out slow like they did against Episcopal.  If they don’t take care of the rock and make the most of their possessions early PV could leave them.  But these two teams know each other well and Tom West and Mike Jones (Coaches for Ponte Vedra and Maclay respectively) know each other well.  Both teams will arrive with a plan in

mind.  Both teams have very talented players that are capable of executing the plan. I think we’re going to see a very close game tonight.  Both teams have excellent records but the edge would have to go to PV for the tougher schedule.  However, the results for common opponents is reasonably close.  Both teams beat Bolles, PV 11-6 and Maclay 9-7.  Both teams beat Creekside by ten and eleven goals.  Maclay beat Winter Park 10-8 and PV beat Winter Park 13-10. Both teams can score in spurts and both coaches will make good adjustments at the half.  I say whoever can stay out of the penalty box has a big advantage.  Both teams have great shooters and those EMO’s can provide those guys with too many opportuniteis.
