Preview of Tonight’s Boys’ Latin at St. Andrews Game

Tonight’s Florida feature game matches Inside Lacrosse’s pre-season #1 team, Boys’ Latin of Maryland, with long-time Florida standard bearer St. Andrews. The game is scheduled for 8:00pm on the home field of St. Andrew’s in Boca Raton. Fans planning on attending should try to get there early as parking has been an issue for past games in this rivalry. This has become pretty much a traditional game for the two teams as they have met almost every year for a while now. Last year’s game was a back-and-forth nail-biter with BL scoring in the last second to pull out a 7-6 win. Boys’ Latin opened their season on this Florida swing with a 13-9 victory over Lake Highland Prep in a game that showcased their incredible 19 Division 1 recruits in their upper classes. BL is led by the consensus #1 junior in America, Shack Stanwick, the latest star player in the family. Two years ago Stanwick made his BL debut as a freshman in the St. Andrew’s game and has not looked back. He is joined by a top supporting class, including Colin Heacock, Mac Pons, Ben Pridemore and Michael Lynch. St. Andrew’s is led by the one-two punch at attack in Conor Whipple and Jake Levine, with a very strong midfield led by Grant Mahler and Andy Wheeler. Corey Etcheverry will start in goal and has his work cut off for him facing the potent BL attack. St. Andrew’s recently traveled to North Carolina last weekend to participate in the Brine Lacrosse King of Spring Lacrosse Classic, where they split their two games, defeating St. Anne’s Belfield of Virginia 15-9 before dropping a game to BL’s MIAA conference rival McDonogh, 7-5. This game has the potential to once again be an ‘instant classic’ and lacrosse fans in the area should make their way to it for a great night of lacrosse.
