Quitting Not in Kensil’s Vocabulary

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Brian Kensil has had every reason to pack it in, go to class then the beach. But, like the team that surrounds him, the word quit apparently isn’t in his vocabulary.
Because of his never say done attitude, the senior midfielderfrom Massapequa, N.Y., very much is an embodiment of this year’s edition of the JU men’s lacrosse team. Like him, they are proving to be resilient and relentless.
Kensil being a reflection of the entire team has come by a series of events he could have done without. The vertebrae surgery, the hip labrum surgery, the two more hip labrum surgeries. Once again, every reason to quit playing.
“He’s a remarkable, remarkable young man,” JU coach Guy Van Arsdale said. “He’s gone through multiple surgeries and more pain than any of us would ever like to think about facing just to be able to play this year and he’s been going through that since he’s gotten here.”
