MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 30, 2015) – Tars freshman goalie Jake Hogan was named the SSC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week and the LaxMagazine.com Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Hogan was selected athlete of the Week from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of March 23-29. In just his second career start, Hogan was huge for the Tars in net in a game against conference foe and No. 12 ranked Florida Tech last week. In the game, the freshman had a career high 19 saves, including 12 in the first half when the Tars built a 4-1 lead that would stick, leading Rollins to their first conference win of the season. Despite knocking off Florida Tech last year, Rollins ranked behind the Panthers in the Sunshine State Conference preseason poll. Tech has proved to be an excellent squad, entering Saturday’s game with the Tars ranked No. 12. Thanks to Hogan, Rollins proved it didn’t deserve to be overlooked. Hogan and the Tars will be back in action on Wednesday, April 8 when they travel to Lynn. Face off is set for 7 p.m.
