WINTER PARK, Fla. (August 22, 2013) – Rollins men’s lacrosse has added Corey Miceli as a Volunteer Assistant, announced head coach R.J. Rossi Thursday. Miceli joins the Tars after successful playing careers at West Genesee High School, Bridgton Academy, and Washington College (Md.). “I’ve come from programs with strong traditions when it comes to lacrosse; I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge and love for the game with the players at Rollins,” said Miceli. “Hopefully we can start our own tradition down here in Florida.” Miceli will focus on three areas for the Tars, assisting on the offensive side of the ball, handling face off personnel and managing the riding and clearing game. “We are very lucky to have a coach of Corey’s caliber join our staff this season,” said Rossi. “He brings a winning attitude and loads of experience to our program. Our guys will immediately benefit from his coaching.” Born and raised in Syracuse, Miceli came through the ranks of the West Genesee School District and was a member of two West Genesee state finalist teams (1996, 1997). He was coached by recent National High School Hall of Fame inductee Mike Messere, playing both attack and midfield. Miceli was also twice named All-State in wrestling for the Wildcats. After West Genesee, Miceli attended Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton Maine. He was part of an undefeated team who went 15-0 and was coached by the late Mike Fuller of Wilton, Conn. At Bridgton, Miceli ranks seventh on the all-time leading scoring list, posting 73 points, and was listed as an All-American for his efforts while also being named a Blue Chip player entering his freshman year of college. Miceli then moved onto Washington College in Maryland, where he was coached by current Limestone coach JB Clarke. At WAC, Miceli had a successful career playing both midfield and attack. As a senior in 2003, he was part of a WAC team who won the Centennial Conference Championship, their first since 1998. Miceli currently lives in Lake Mary, Fla. and has a three-year old son Colton. Both Miceli and the Tars will begin work for the 2014 season immediately.
