From PBASailfish.com Written By: Jayson Schmidt, Director of Lacrosse Operations WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –– The Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic University have announced their captains for the 2016 spring lacrosse season. Graduate student Anthony Curra, senior Dan Wilkerson, and juniors Camden Baggs and Greg Swanson were honored with the distinction this year. Anthony Curra is a defenseman, graduate student, and returning captain, who hails from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (Palm Beach Gardens HS). Anthony joined the PBA men’s lacrosse program in 2014 and made an immediate impact, being named All-SELC first team and an honorable mention All-America selection. In 2015, he was named to both the All-SELC third team and SELC All-Tournament Team. Curra is a defensive leader and a key cog in the Sailfish man-down and faceoff units. Dan Wilkerson is a senior midfielder from Bedford, Massachusetts (Bedford HS). Dan is the only four-year member of the PBA lacrosse program on this year’s team and is one of two players who played on the 2013 team that made an appearance in the national tournament. In 2015, he had 18 goals and 14 assists with 71 ground balls and was named to the All-SELC third team (defensive midfield). Wilkerson’s ability in the middle of the field has made him nearly irreplaceable. Junior Camden Baggs is a midfielder from Summerville, S.C. (Ashley Ridge HS). In 2015, Baggs scored 24 goals with 6 assists and 57 ground balls. He became a revelation for the Sailfish late in the season, averaging three points per game over his final seven games against the likes of Florida Gulf Coast (4/18/15, four goals; 4/26/15, three goals), SCAD (three goals, one assist), and Reinhardt (three goals). Camden was named to the SELC All-Tournament team for his efforts in the 2015 conference tournament. Greg Swanson is a junior midfielder from Boca Raton, Fla. (Boca Raton HS). Entering his third season with the ‘Fish, “Swany” has already eclipsed the 150-point mark for his career, including a 99 point effort in 2015. That earned him a host of honors last season; he was a first-team All-America selection and first-team All-SELC selection at the midfield. He was also named the MCLA Player of the Month in April 2015. As a freshman, Greg was named to the All-SELC second team. He has been a vital piece to the PBA offense and extra-man units, and is 32 points away from breaking Joe Ciringione’s career points record (188). Palm Beach Atlantic begins the 2016 season with a non-MCLA contest against Lynn University (NCAA Division 2) on Saturday, February 6th at 7:00 p.m. at Bobby Campbell Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida.
