SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s lacrosse team took down a strong Belmont Abbey squad on Wednesday evening with a 9-7 win in dramatic fashion at University Turf Stadium.
The Lions, who went into the break with a 5-4 lead, saw the Crusaders come back and tie the game at 7-7 with just 11:32 left to play in the half. A rip by Neely Regan on a free position attempted ended up being the game-winner for the Lions, and a nasty move by Caroline Fraser gave the Lions a two-goal cushion they were able to maintain for the rest of the game.
Fraser led the team with two goals, both in the second half and one assist, while Regan also finished with two goals. Kaylah Walstad ended with one goal and one assist for two points.
