Talkow Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

Won all 12 faceoffs he took against Bucknell this past Saturday

  CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Freshman Sam Talkow of the Boston University men’s lacrosse team was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Talkow was a perfect 12-of-12 at the faceoff X and also added a goal this past Saturday at Bucknell. In addition, Talkow picked up seven ground balls to lead all players. He is the third straight Terrier to earn Rookie of the Week honors from the conference; classmates Cal Dearth and Ryan Johnston have also garnered that distinction. The Delray Beach, Fla., native has won 16 straight faceoffs dating back to March 15 against Lafayette and is 36-of-49 (.735) in the last three games at the faceoff X. He leads the Patriot League and is 14th in the nation with a faceoff percentage of .614. Talkow’s 54 ground balls also rank second in the conference. BU will return home this weekend when the Terriers host Navy in a Patriot League contest. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
