Seminole (6-2) traveled to play an underated Dr. Phillips (4-4). Seminole still smarting from a tough loss on Saturday came out flat and Dr. Phillips jumped all over them. Dr. Phillips took an early lead and continued to take advantage of Seminole’s uncharacteristic sloppiness. Dr. Phillips was lead by Ian Decker 4G, 2A. While the 1st quarter ended only 1-0 in Dr. Phillips favor, they controlled the play. The teams traded goals early in the 2nd quarter, but Dr. Phillips put together a run and went into halftime leading 7-2, with their eyes on a statement win.
Seminole came out in the second half and began to play up to their potential after trading goals to make it 8-3, Seminole finished the 3rd quarter with a 3 goal run and closed the gap to 8-6. Ryan Ormerod lead the way with 3 goals. Dr. Phillips scored early in the 4th quarter to push the lead back to 3 and hoped to stop the come back. But Seminole was rolling and put together 4 unanswered goals to take a 10-9 lead. The highlights were an end-to-end rush by d-pole Gage Krull who set up Bennett Osterink for the tying goal and then an individual effort by Alex Proly to take their first lead and finish off his hat trick. Seminole’s defense shut down Dr. Phillips in the final 4 minutes and went home with a hard fought come from behind road win.
Seminole (7-2) is off until 3/13 when they travel to Winter Park (4-3). Dr. Phillips looks to get back on the winning side when they host University School on Friday 3/6.
