Florida Youth Lacrosse Foundation Held US Lacrosse Goalie School In Boca Last Saturday

The Florida Youth Lacrosse Foundation held its’ 11th annual Florida Preseason Lacrosse Goalie School yesterday at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton and the event was a solid success as both boys and girls youth players were treated to instruction from among the highest level of instructors.  The one day event was designed to develop and fine tune every goalie’s individual technique in an environment that is dedicated solely to teaching the position.
The school was divided into four unique sections: A stand alone Girls Goaltending Skills Class directed by Babson College Head Woman’s Lacrosse Coach Michelle Smith.  Coach Smith is a nationally recognized teacher of the game, a former All-American, and NCAA Goalie of the Year. A stand alone Boys Goaltending Skills Class directed by Endicott College Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Eric Hagarty.  Coach Hagarty is a frequent lecturer on goalie play, a former All-American, and a current MLL goaltender for the Boston Cannons. “Starting the Offense” Class led by St. Anselm College Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Mike Sciamanna. Coach Sciamanna is an expert on offensive strategy and skill development and will work with every participant in small groups to “prepare for the moments after the save”. Video Analysis Class will be directed by the MLL Boston Cannons Head Coach Sean Quirk. A former All-American and NCAA Goalie of the Year, Coach Quirk will work one-on-one as time allows to visually review individual goaltending techniques.
As you can see from the pictures the kids certainly tried to absorb everything possible and even a rare early morning fog in the area did nothing to cloud the learning experience! Thanks to Donald Goldstein, Brian and Don Clinton and the rest of the organizers for a fine event for all!
