South Florida Chapter Names It’s All Americans and Coach of the Year!
FLN has learned that the All Americans and South Florida Chapter Coach of the Year have been named today. In addition, 17 names have been submitted for Academic All American and those submissions will be forwarded to a review board of educators, with a target of 10 names being granted that award. Based on discussions I have learned that 22 players were up for consideration, making it a difficult task to narrow it down to 10 names. The South Florida chapter was reduced from 12 to 10 this year, probably due to the reduction of the ratio of players named to schools playing in the Chapter’s region. The old ratio being 1 AA for five schools and the new one being 1 AA for 6 schools. First, the Coach of the Year for the Chapter is Alan Bellando of Belen Jesuit. Coach Bellando has led Belen to a current record of 19-2, with a Final 16 matchup with Gulliver Prep coming up Tuesday. And here are the 10 All Americans as voted on today (from north to south geographically)! Viper Scheele – Senior Goalie from Jupiter High, a repeat from 2015 Andrew Packer – Senior Attackman from Benjamin School, a repeat from 2015 Danny Pagano – Senior LSM from WT Dwyer High Colin Hayek – Senior LSM from Oxbridge Academy Davis Diamond – Senior Middie from Saint Andrew’s, a repeat from 2015 Nick McCabe – Senior Middie from Boca Raton High Louie Yovino – Senior Middie from St. Thomas Aquinas, a repeat from 2015 Michael Adler – Senior Goalie from St. Thomas Aquinas Kevin Crowley – Junior Attackman from St. Thomas Aquinas Anthony Courcelle – Senior LSM from Cypress Bay, a repeat from 2015 Congratulations to all those chosen and we look forward to listing the Academic All Americans and any other awards that the Chapter names!
