Spartans Take Fight Out of Knights

TAMPA, Fla – The No.10 Tampa Spartans the Lynn Fighting Saturday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Athletic Complex.Tampa dominated Lynn from the first whistle on as led the entire match and would go on to win 12-6. Following the victory, UT improves to 12-2 and extends its conference win streak to four games. LU drops to 7-6 and 1-2 on the year. The Spartan offense was led by Mike Morris who tallied three goals in the match. The Tampa offense spread the ball around as eight different players scored and five different players recorded an assist. Defensively Tampa put on an impressive effort causing 11 turnovers and collected 34 groundballs. Leading the effort on defense for Tampa was Douglas Weisbecker and Charlie Cummins who each caused two turnoverss on the day. Also paying tenacious defense was Nick Balzano, Jon McGowan, Riley Piper and Luke Posner. When asked about his team’s performance Coach Whipple said “he was happy to pck up the win heading in to the final stretch of the year.”Coach Whipple credited their success in the second half to their effort in the faceoff where Trevor Calleja went 14-21 in the contest. Tampa Finishes the regular season at home April 17 against the Florida Tech Panthers.
