Festivities to Include Tournament Play, Clinic and Open Play for All Ages Orlando, FL, October 2015 – SPEED Lacrosse ™, an innovative new action sport founded by a team including American lacrosse superstar Casey Powell, brings its non-stop action to Central Florida at the inaugural SPEED Lacrosse Winter Grand Prix, which will take place at the Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate on December 19 & 20, 2015. The Winter Grand Prix will feature youth tournaments for boys and girls ages 7-18, a SPEED Lacrosse clinic presented by Casey Powell and an open play opportunity where area coaches, parents and lacrosse fans ages 19 through 99 will be encouraged to grab a stick and feel the NEED for SPEED. Registration for tournament teams in each age and gender group plus detailed information about discounted accommodations at the Omni Orlando Resort is available online at www.speedlacrosse.com. Each team will feature a maximum of 5 players and with no less than 4. The cost per player is $99, and each player must be a SPEED member to participate. SPEED Lacrosse ™ Court Specifics and Match Overview SPEED is played on a court 40 yds. x 20 yds., features two goals, 3ó’ x 3ó’, and is played on all surfaces including beach, grass/field and indoor. Each match consists of three 6-minute periods, first team to win 2 periods wins the match. SPEED Matches are played as 3 vs.3 and teams consist of a maximum of 5 players. There is no mandated equipment except for NCAA regulation lacrosse stick and mouth guard. No set goalie, no off sides. Each match features continuous action that aids in the development of stick skills, fitness, foot speed, communication, & field IQ. “SPEED Lacrosse is the pure lacrosse I played with my brothers in the back yard and it turns out many others did as well.
