AVE MARIA, Fla. – – Head Coach Kelly Buikus is happy to announce that Stephanie Hilker of Haslett, Michigan has signed her letter of intent to study and play lacrosse at Ave Maria University. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and has achieved Academic honor roll her entire high school career.
Hilker also lettered in track and golf in her high school career as well as earning academic awards in her sports. She was also named Student of the Month in 2015. She is also a recipient of the Southeast Michigan Diocesan Scholarship at AMU.
Hilker played her high school lacrosse at Haslett Williamston High School, and her winter club lacrosse with Summit Sports. “We are thrilled that Stephanie will be playing her lacrosse here at Ave Maria. Her work ethic on and off the field will be a great asset for us as we head into our second season,” states Buikus.
“When I visited Ave Maria I was blown away by how friendly everyone was, how beautiful the campus was, and how the professors related to their students. The girls on the lacrosse team were friendly and welcoming and I could tell that they have the same passion for lacrosse that I do”, said Hilker.
Stephanie would like to thank like Coach Tuan Lee and Coach Paul Donley for pushing her to compete every day to become a better athlete. Stephanie would also like to thank her sister, Mary who also played lacrosse at the college level, for practicing with her to make her a complete, well rounded player.
