TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men’s lacrosse head coach Rory Whipple is proud to announce the additions of Ryan Sullivan and Adam Hardy to the coaching staff. “We are very excited to have Ryan and Adam join the Tampa family,” said coach Whipple. “Both show strong character and have an excellent work ethic that will be a great addition to our staff.” Sullivan joins the Spartans from Ohio Wesleyan where he served as the defensive coordinator in 2016 while Hardy is fresh off a three-year stint assisting Hobart College as a student-assistant coach. Under Sullivan’s guidance while at Ohio Wesleyan, the Battling Bishops ranked 7th in Division III, giving up 6.65 goals per game. Prior to OWU, Sullivan lead the defense at Mercyhurst as the Lakers ranked second in NCAA Division II in scoring defense in 2015, allowing an average of 7.1 goals per game in 2015. Sullivan is a 2014 graduate of Mercyhurst, where he played lacrosse for four years. During his career, the Lakers won one national championship, reached the national championship game twice, advanced to the national semifinals three times, and were in the national quarterfinals all four years.  He was a two-time all-conference selection, served as team captain, and played on two conference championship teams.  Sullivan is a native of Pittsford, N.Y. Hardy joins the Spartans as the Head Junior Varsity Coach while also assisting the Tampa offensive corps.  During his tenure at Hobart, Hardy was responsible for the substitution box and coordinating film practices.  During practice, Hardy managed the stick skills portion of the training session and supervised the fundamental skills. In addition to his work with Hobart, Hardy participated in an internship with LB3 Lacrosse LLC in Atlanta, Ga. where he supervised practice and skills development camps.  During his time with LB3, the Greensboro, N.C. native coached the 2020 and 2017 National Teams and was responsible for management of the Under Armour apparel inventory. Hardy is a 2016 graduate of Hobart College where he earned his B.A. in American studies and history. “Coach Sullivan will be working with coach [Chris] Burdick to help strengthen the defensive end of the field while Coach Hardy will joing myself in enhancing the team’s offense,” said coach Whipple. “They both posses a strong passion for the game and are timeless recruiters.”
