via the TCPalm web site The photo is from Angie Herman, who attended the game and has submitted to FLN on a number of occasions, thank you Angie!   The TC Palm is part of the USA Today Network and they have always been good about covering high school lacrosse in their readership area.  Mike Graham, the sports Editor, covered the District 23 final between St. Edward’s and Martin County and here is an excerpt and the link to their story:   Excerpt   It was a rally that St. Edward’s School players, coaches and fans won’t soon forget. Down 9-3 at the half, St. Edward’s battled back for a 12-11 victory over Martin County High School Friday night to win in the District 23 Championship at Pirates Stadium in Vero Beach. Senior Chase Stokes, who didn’t play in the first half because of an injury, but scored three goals in the final period, had the game-winner with just under two minutes to play. The win sends St. Edward’s (11-6) to a regional game against Benjamin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, with the site yet to be determined. St. Edward’s coach Doug Bailey, who called the win, “one of the best comebacks I’ve ever been associated with,” said that Stokes and Ritter Marchant were injured in a 10-2 semifinal win over Vero Beach on Wednesday. Bailey said Marchant couldn’t play against Martin County and that he held Stokes out the first half. But with the game getting out-of-hand in the third quarter, Bailey turned to Stokes and said, “if you don’t go in now, there may not be another opportunity. “It was a real gut-check by (Stokes),” he said. St. Edward’s scored first on Wils Tucker’s goal at the nine-minute mark of the first period. From there, Martin County went on a six-goal run.   Read the rest of the story HERE
