The First Academy Names Emily Garrity As New Girls Lacrosse Coach

ORLANDO, Fla. — The First Academy has named Emily Garrity as the Lady Royals Lacrosse varsity head coach for the 2016 season.
Garrity is a current member of the United States Women’s National Lacrosse Team and comes to The First Academy by way of Harrisonburg, Virginia, where she assisted the James Madison University women’s lacrosse program for two seasons. During her time at JMU, the Dukes have compiled a 20-11 record and appeared in the 2014 Colonial Athletic Association championship.
Prior to coaching, Garrity was a four-year starter and two-year team captain at the University of North Carolina. During her collegiate career, she led the Tar Heels to a combined 65-16 record, three NCAA semifinal appearances and the 2013 NCAA National Championship. She was a 2013 SynapseSports.com All-American, member of the 2013 All-ACC team, member of the 2011 and 2013 ACC All-Tournament teams and was a two-time ACC All-Academic honoree.
Garrity remains one of the most storied athletes in girls high school lacrosse history. A graduate of Strath Haven High School in Rutledge, PA, she set national records for points (695) and assists (289). She was a three-time All-American and was invited to play in the 2009 Under Armour Senior All-American Game.
She will take the helm of a Lady Royals Lacrosse team that will enter its third season as a varsity program in 2016.
