NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – For the third week in a row, Merrimack College men’s lacrosse freshman attack Tucker Schwarz (Tallahassee, Fla.) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference’s Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league Monday afternoon. Schwarz, who has been the recipient of the league’s top newcomer award for all three weeks to start the 2014 season, was at his best yet again during the Warriors’ only contest last week; the Tallahassee, Fla., native led Merrimack with four points (3g, 1a) in the team’s 11-5 conference victory against Saint Michael’s on Saturday. Also registering eight shots and three ground balls on Saturday, Schwarz has registered at least one point in all four games to start his collegiate career – including three or more points in three of those contests. He leads all Merrimack players with 13 points (7g, 6a) and has chipped in eight ground balls while converting at a 22.6 percent shooting clip. Schwarz and the rest of the Warriors face their biggest test of the season on Wednesday (March 19), when they travel to sixth-ranked Dowling for a huge regional road tilt on Long Island. Merrimack concludes the week with a league showdown with American International on Saturday (March 22) at 1 p.m.
