Two Fleming Island Seniors Sign NLI’s

Jaren Szafranski is headed to Division II North Greenville University
Above-Hayden La Vangie has signed his NLI to attend Jacksonville University Jaren Szafranski, a senior close defender at Fleming Island, has signed his NLI to attend Division II North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina. Szafranski is a three year starter at FIHS, an all-district performer, member of Team Florida, and the second Fleming Island player to sign with a Division II program. Szafranski sat out for over half of the 2014 season with a broken thumb but still managed to lead the team in defensive take-aways and finish second in ground balls. On attending NGU, Jaren said, “he chose North Greenville because of the academic and lacrosse opportunities that were presented to him”,and also added ” he is very excited to play for Coach Corey Struss.” North Greenville University competes in the Carolinas Conference. Szafranski plans to study business and sports management while enrolled at North Greenville University Hayden La Vangie has signed his NLI to attend Jacksonville University in the Fall of 2015. La Vangie will be the first player in the history of Fleming Island Lacrosse to play on the Division I level. La Vangie is the current team co-captain, a three-time First Team All-District selection, three-time Team Offensive MVP, all-time goal scorer and assist leader for Fleming Island, and a 2014 US Lacrosse All-American. When asked about his goals for the 2015 Season, he responded, “to beat Bolles and win our district.” On attending JU, La Vangie added, “I am really excited about my choice. I met all of my new teammates a few months ago and can’t wait to get on campus!” Jacksonville University competes in the newly formed Southern Conference. La Vangie plans to study business and possibly aviation at Jacksonville University. He also plans to join the Marine Corps through its PLCProgram.
