UF: Pirreca and Ronbeck Earn Weekly Big East Honors

via press release – photo via UF web site   GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida women’s lacrosse players Sydney Pirrecaand Lindsey Ronbeck were tabbed the BIG EAST Midfielder and Attacker of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Pirreca tallied four goals, four assists, five ground balls, six draw controls, and one caused turnover in Florida’s 2-0 week, which included a win over No. 5 Syracuse. At UConn on March 18, she tied her career high of six points with three goals and three assists. Pirreca also recorded a career-high four draw controls against the Huskies. Against the Orange, the sophomore had one goal, one assist, four ground balls and two draw controls. Against No. 5 Syracuse, Ronbeck set a career high with six goals on seven shot attempts. She also tied her career highs with seven points and six ground balls against the Orange as the Gators scored a 19-12 victory. In Florida’s BIG EAST opener at Connecticut, Ronbeck had another seven-point outing with five goals and two assists. In two games, she compiled 11 goals (13 shots), three assists, seven ground balls, two draw controls, and one caused turnover to help stretch Florida’s win streak to seven games.
