The Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Underclass South regional tryouts will take place the weekend of May 30th and 31st in Orlando, Florida at the University of Central Florida. The South boys tryout will run Saturday the 30th from 4pm to 8pm and on the 31st from 10am to 2pm. Girls action will get underway Sunday the 31st at 11am and finish at 4pm. Players from the graduating classes of 2016-2018 are eligible to participate in the open tryout.
Players selected to the South regional teams will compete in the three-day Under Armour Underclass Tournament which will take place July 3 – July 5 at Towson University near Baltimore, MD. The weekend will include competing male and female regional teams from Baltimore, Long Island, Midwest, New England, New Jersey, Philadelphia, South, Upstate New York, Washington, D.C. and West battling it out for bragging rights.
Each player who registers for the regional tryout will receive an Under Armour Tech T and tryout jersey. The players chosen for their respective Underclass regional teams will also compete in custom Under Armour uniforms. The Under Armour Underclass regional tryouts have become the very best gathering of lacrosse talent and serve as an extremely beneficial college recruiting venue. These tryouts and the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse weekend are recognized by college coaches as an invaluable tool to identify the next generation of elite lacrosse athletes.
The South girls regional team will be led by coaches Shannon Dean (Vero Beach HS, FL), Faith Richards (Episcopal School, TX) and Catherine LeBlanc (Myers Park HS, NC). On the boys side, the South will be coached by Chris Spaulding (Lake Highland Prep, FL), Alex Poole (Coppell HS, TX), Mark Goldsmith (Guilford Northwest HS, NC) and Andy Pons (Woodword HS, GA)
Once again in 2015, we will host the Underclass Uncommitted Showcase. Each year there are very talented players who are on the cusp of making the All-America Underclass teams, but are not selected. Aside from the 24 players chosen for each regional team, this year, 15 underclass uncommitted (to college) players, five each from the graduating classes of 2016, 2017, 2018 will be invited to compete and showcase themselves in front of scores of coaches during the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse weekend. The regional evaluators and coaches will select players for the Underclass Uncommitted Showcase after the final regional teams are picked and will face-off on July 4th at Towson.
The Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Underclass Tournament is held in conjunction with the Under Armour All-America Game on July 3. Only 88 of the nation’s top male and female high school seniors will be named Under Armour All-Americans, earning the sport’s most prestigious honor. Under Armour All-Americans are selected by a panel of lacrosse experts at Inside Lacrosse magazine. The year-long process includes input from college and high school coaches from across the country as well as nominations from the general public.
