Last night the University School Suns opened its season at home against district opponent Plantation HS. It was a beautiful night for lacrosse and the boys came out ready to compete. Sam Oshinsky started off the scoring just over a minute into the game and was followed by sophomore Jesse Miot who recorded his first varsity goal. The Suns attack unit then buried the next 5 goals to end the first quarter 7-0. The second quarter started in similar fashion and the Suns went into half time up by a score of 16-0. During the second half the Suns’ younger varsity players got some much needed game time experience; the game finishes with a final score of 20-0. Freshman Niko Ioannou recorded his first varsity goal, and freshman Kyle Gittelman recorded his first varsity assist. Notable performances were seen by senior Daniel Eisdorfer with 7 goals and 3 assists, senior Noah Blum with 5 goals and 1 assist, Sophomore Max Hermann with 3 goals and 2 assists, Matt Gittelman with 1 goal, 1 assist, and 4 caused turnovers, and senior Ben Churba and junior Matt Silverstein recorded their first varsity shut out. The Suns now turn their sights to Palmetto HS for the second game of the season on Friday night at 7 pm at home.
