UT Men: #9 Spartans Rocket Past Argonauts 24-2

via press release – photo via UT web site   TAMPA, Fla. –  The University of Tampa Spartans defeat the Notre Dame De Maur University Argonauts by a large margin.   • Tampa won the face-off to start the game. 
  • Matt Vetter with an assist from Jake Mosher McGraw at 14:02 set the tone for the game.
  • Ten seconds later Blaine Birch fired to make it 2-0 with an assist from A.J. Ferraro. 
  • Andrew Kew struck at 12:40 to give Tampa more of a cushion, with an assist from Luke Robideaux. 
  • Kew scored again, unassisted this time to give a 4-0 lead. 
  • Mosher McGraw had his first goal of the game with 3:01 left in the period.
  • Bryan Wright with an assist from Conor Whipple with seconds left gave Tampa a 7-0 lead before the second period. 
2nd Period
  • After 6 unanswered goals, the Argonauts made the score 7-1 to start the period.
  • Kew responded back with Sam Watts, now 8-1.
  • Another goal from Kew, assisted by Chris Vetter gives Tampa an eight-goal lead.
  • Wright with his second goal of the game and Kew’s first assist of the game makes it 10-1 with 4:32 left before the half.
  • Mosher McGraw with his third goal of the game, assisted by Wright gives Tampa a 10-goal lead.
  • Hunter Van Horn with less than a minute left scored his first goal as a Spartan.
  • Kew strikes again with Whipple to make it 13-1 for the final goal of the period. 
3rd Period
  • Jake Schmidt scored his first goal of the game to open the period with an assist from Whipple, his third of the game. 
  • At 7:13 on the clock, Metter with an assist from Whipple give Tampa a 14-goal lead.
  • Kew with his sixth goal of the game makes it 16-1.
4th Period
  • Freshman Jack Shelton opened the final period for Tampa with an assist from James Pugliese.
  • The Argonauts scored at 10:48 for their second goal of the game to make the score 17-2, Tampa leading.
  • Cameron Wolfe teamed up with Robideaux to give Tampa a 16-goal lead.
  • At 8:48, Pugliese scored his first goal of the game, assisted by John Murret.
  • Spencer Eysaman took Tampa’s lead ever further to 20-2 with an assist from Pugliese, his second of the game.
  • Pugliese, assist by Sean Wood with 4:13 left.
  • The 22nd goal of the game comes from Murret assist by Pugliese.
  • Wolfe takes a solo shot and earns the goal with 1:36 left in the game.
  • The final goal of the game comes from Murret, assisted by Eysaman.

  • Sophmore, Kew led the team in goals with 6.
  • Senior, Whipple led the team in assists with 4.
  • Wright had three points, two goals, and one assist.
  •  M. Vetter tallied two goals and one groundball.
  • Mosher McGraw had two goals, one assist, and two caused turnovers.
  • Marty Heyn had two caused turnovers and one groundball.
  • Pugleise had five points, two goals, and three assists.
  • Ferraro tallied two points.
  • Murret had three points, two goals, and one assist.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE: Sophomore Andrew Kew is approaching 100 career goals. Currently with 90 so far, he sits at number three at career goals. He will be the second spartan to reach this milestone.
