UT Men: Tampa Rebounds With 16-2 Win Over Maryville on Saturday

via press release – photo via Tampa web site   CHARLES, Mo. – The No. 4 University of Tampa showed no mercy after yesterday’s loss to bring a highlight to the weekend with a high scoring win.   • It took no time for Tampa’s offense to open the game with back to back goals from Andrew Kew, one assisted by Chris Vetter.
  • After taking the lead early Bryan Wright also shot back to back goals, one assisted by Matt Vetter.
  • Kew made the score 5-0 on a man-up goal with 3:47 on the clock.
  • A minute later, A.J. Ferraro made his third goal of the season.
  • Wright was assisted from M. Vetter for the final goal of the period, leading 7-0.
2nd Period
  • M. Vetter had his third goal of the season to start the period.
  • 10:01 on the baord and Tyler Trammell was assisted from Sean Wood, Tampa now leading 9-0.
  • Wood shot his first goal of the season, assisted by Cameron Wolfe with 4:04 on the clock.
  • The final goal of the period was made by C. Vetter from James Pugliese.
3rd Period
  •  Kew struck first for Tampa in the period,asisted from C.Vetter, his 18th goal of the season.
  • Maryville got on the board for the first time with 2:54 on the board.
  • Yet Kew tallied another goal for Tampa at 1:06 , assisted from C. Vetter again.
4th Period
  • Maryville struck first at 9:03, making the score 13-2.
  • Connor Scanlin scored his first goal as a Spartan.
  • Cameron Wolfe scored his first goal of the season, 15-2.
  • The Vetter brothers teammed up for the final goal of the game. Matt was assisted by Chris. Making the score 16-2.
INSIDE THE STATS:  
  • Kew had five goals.
  • C. Vetter had four assists.
  • Wright had three goals.
  • M. Vetter had two goals and two assists.
  • Bryan Uva caused two turnovers on defense.
  • Kew had two caused turnovers as well.
  • Bryan Karn had three saves in goal.
  • Tampa won 20 of 22 face-offs.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Head Coach Rory Whipple is approaching another career milestone as he now sits at 299 career wins. The all-time winningest coach in NCAA Division II history is in his sixth season at UT and now has 71 wins as a Spartan.
