Vero Beach Girl's Continue their Push for Another State Championship

The Vero Beach girls’ lacrosse team showed why they have won every state title since FHSAA recognized the sport as they roll over Benjamin 14-5.
The first ten minutes of the game were played even with no scoring at all. Benjamin came to play and it showed. But sooner or later the pressure from so many offensive weapons will start to find cracks in the armour.
Ashley MacIntyer took a feed from Alexis Moirano to get the Fighting Indians on the board and begin a four goal run. Katy Pridemore (Florida) added two more and Alexis Moirano scored the fourth.
With just over a minute to go Hayley Ciklin got things going the right way for Benjamin and Abby Shields brought them within two at the :06 mark of the first half.
Down by only two at the end of the half it looked like Benjamin was ready to make a game of it. But Vero Beach came out and did what great teams do when they need to do it. Over the next 11:30 minutes they reeled off five unanswered goals to stretch their lead to an insurmountable 9-2 advantage. Hannah LaBovick, Ciklin, and Riley Johnson would each add another goal for Benjamin but it just wasn’t enough. Too much speed and too much offense kept Vero in control.
Pridemore finished the game with 6 goals and 1 assist. Alexis Moiran scored two goals and two assists, Abby Shields and Ashley MacIntyre both scored twice, and Allison Modica and Gabby Darcangelo each scored once.
Vero Beach will face the Bears from Batram Trail tonigh in the State Championship game at 5:05.
