A great look at the second Girls’ semifinal game! Excerpt:In its second varsity season, American Heritage-Delray shocked the Florida lacrosse community, reaching states with a roster made up mostly of 8th graders, freshmen and sophomores.On Friday, the upstart Stallions looked to pull off another stunner in the FHSAA semifinals in Jupiter against juggernaut Vero Beach — winner of 10 consecutive state championships.Instead, Heritage’s rapid ascent came to an end as the Stallions fell to the Fighting Indians 12-6 at Velocity Credit Union Stadium at Jupiter High School.“You have to play to almost near perfection with a team like [Vero Beach],” American Heritage-Delray coach John McClain said. “We hustled our brains off — we were in the game.
