West Orange Teams Impressive in Orlando Lacrosse Open

The inaugural Orlando Open Lacrosse Tournament opened with impressive team performances, perfect weather, and large attendance at a first class athletic facility. It was an impressive weekend for the west side of Orlando as the West Orange Gorillas and the West Orange Outlaws took the high school A and U13 division titles respectively.  The Lake Mary Mohicans Freshmen team defeated a talented  War Hawks  Freshmen team for the High School B title. The tournament drew teams from Tallahassee, Gainesville, Tampa, Miami, and Orlando and was held on the University of Central Florida Recreation and Wellness turf field complex. Overall the Gorillas were dominant in the High School A Divsion as they were led by Catawba signees Grant Hughes and Parker Jones along with Dr. Phillips defender Kevin Hoppey. The final results for the tournament were as follows: High School A Division Championship Game:  Gorillas defeat Royals 3rd Place Game:   Mohicans defeat Team Tampa 5th Place Game:   Miami Mahi defeat Bears LC High School B Divsion Championship Game:  Mohicans Freshmen defeat Warhawk Freshmen U13 Division Championship Game:  West Orange Outlaws defeat Mohicans Red The tournament will be held again next year in an expanded format that will include out of state teams.  Please visit www.orlandolaxopen.com for updates throughout the year.
